Current Raffle:

Currently, the PAWHS is working on a joint venture with the PA Game Commission, Northwest PA Duckhunter's Association, Susquehanna River Waterfowler's Associations, and Scott Petrie of Long Point Waterfowl and Wetland Research. Scott has been studying the habits of both Lesserand Greater Scaup through the use of Satellite Telemtry. His current work can be found here.

Scott currently would like to install 10 more Great Scaup with satellite transmistters, but has come up short on funding. Since PA is a major flight and staging area for both Lesser and Greater Scaup, the partnership with the above entities has been formed. Monies from all three organizations and a possible grant from the USFWS Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Restoration Act can make this possible. This will, in turn, be used to install these transmitters at Presque Isle State on Lake Erie in Pennsylvania. This project will have a huge impact in understanding the decline in the Scaup population, and it should make for the perfect way for the PAWHS to use it's fundraising powers for a greater cause.

Currently, pre-capture and banding of Scaup at Presque Isle State Park is underway and PAGC Wildlife Biologist Kevin Jacobs has took the lead in this role. The installation of these transmistters is set for the spring of 2010, and the fundraising effort has just begun. $20.00 per ticket ($5.00 per chance), 3 tickets for $50.00 ($4.17 per chance), and 7 tickets for $100.00 ($3.57 per chance!!!)

4 Numbers/chances per ticket with only 250 Tickets to be sold (numbers based on PA lottery 3 digit evening drawing)

In the event that all tickets are not sold, and an unsold ticket hits on any date, we WILL use the dayS following the last official drawing date for any undrawrn prizes.
